Finally! For all those Siri lovers who want to request a song without faffing around trying to locate it!
With the iOS 13 update, Spotify is finally gaining the ability to play songs, albums and playlists via Siri. This is great news for those who don’t use Apple Music, as Spotify is now on ‘equal footing’ with the widely ranged music app.
While this new feature let’s you request Spotify with Siri on an iPhone, it doesn’t currently work on Apple Watch as Apple’s wearable doesn’t have a fully dedicated Spotify app. Instead, the app is simply a controller for playing songs on other devices.
If you try and request a song from Siri to be played via Spotify on your Apple Watch you’ll simply get the reply ‘I’m sorry, I can’t do that on your Apple Watch‘.
Although this is a bit annoying, this new upgrade works great with Apple’s AirPods, allowing you to say “Hey Siri” and request albums, playlists or song’s on Spotify’s service. Again, there’s always a con, although this feature works great with Apple’s AirPods, you still can’t play podcasts with Siri.
